JAMB Physics made simpler: where to focus

JAMB Physics is about understanding, not cramming formulae. Prioritise mechanics and electricity, learn your units, and practise applying ideas to problems.

JAMB Physics made simpler: where to focus

Physics has a reputation for being hard, but a lot of that fear comes from trying to memorise it. Physics is about understanding a handful of big ideas and applying them. Get that right and the formulae start to make sense instead of needing to be crammed.

Prioritise the heavy-hitting topics

Some areas come up reliably and carry real weight — mechanics (motion, forces, energy, momentum), electricity and magnetism, and waves. If your time is limited, make sure these are solid before you chase the rarer topics. Depth on the common areas beats thin coverage of everything.

Respect units and definitions

A surprising number of physics marks are lost on units and definitions, not on hard calculation. Know your SI units, be comfortable converting between them, and learn the standard definitions cleanly. These are easy marks that reward a little discipline.

Connect formulae to meaning

Don't memorise an equation as a string of letters — understand what it says. When you grasp that force relates mass and acceleration, you can rearrange and apply it under pressure rather than panicking over which symbol goes where. Understanding survives exam stress; rote memory often doesn't.

Practise applying, not just reading

Physics is learned by solving problems. Work through questions topic by topic, and when you get one wrong, identify whether it was the concept, the formula, or the arithmetic. That diagnosis is where the real learning happens.

Find a chum for the tricky concepts

Some physics ideas — resolving forces, circuits, electromagnetic induction — are far easier with someone walking you through them. Browse physics and science chums and start with a free meet & greet. Understand the core ideas well, and JAMB Physics becomes a paper you can be confident about.
