How we handle your data.

TutorChum is a tutor marketplace operated by Leyecodes Ltd, a company registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC RC 7155000) at 24 Sule Rali Street, Igando New Town, Lagos. We are a data controller for the personal information of learners, parents, and tutors who use the service.

• Account data: name, email, phone, role (learner / parent / tutor).
• Profile data: avatar, bio, languages, subjects, hourly rates, availability.
• For tutors: government-issued ID for verification, references, qualifications uploaded.
• Lesson data: bookings, lesson timestamps, session notes, messages, reviews.
• Payment data: handled by BudPay, our payment processor — never stored on our servers.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, page views, error logs.

To run the service: match learners with chums, schedule lessons, process payments, prevent abuse, comply with the law, improve the product, and reach you about account-relevant events.

We do not sell your personal data. Ever.

Learners under 13 must have a parent or guardian create the account and supervise its use. Marketing communications are never sent to minors. Lesson notes and messages involving a minor are accessible only to the parent, the chum on the lesson, and TutorChum trust & safety staff with a verified need to view them.

Account and lesson data are retained for as long as the account exists, plus a statutory tail (typically 7 years for financial records under Nigerian tax law). On account deletion, we anonymise personal identifiers and retain only what we're required to.

• Access: ask for a copy of your data.
• Correction: fix anything that's wrong.
• Erasure: delete your account and have us anonymise personal data.
• Portability: export your data in a machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent: change marketing preferences at any time.
• Object: tell us to stop a specific kind of processing.

We'll email all users at least 14 days before any material change takes effect. Smaller corrections will be reflected here with an updated date at the top.
